Edmund Nelson played collegiate football at Auburn, where he won the university’s prestigious Cliff Hare Award for his athletic and academic achievements. After earning second-team All-SEC honors during his senior year, he was selected by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 1982 draft. Over the course of his six seasons with the Steelers, he started 42 games and recorded 16 sacks. Following his playing career, he transitioned into broadcasting with KDKA-TV. He worked as a color analyst for Steelers preseason games and co-hosted the team’s pregame show. After 17 seasons as a broadcaster, Nelson retired in 2014.
